How It Works — 100% In Your Browser
This tool uses a neural network that runs entirely in your web browser. The AI model downloads once (about 20MB), then is cached for instant future use. Your images are processed locally on your device using WebGPU (on supported browsers) or WebAssembly as a fallback. Nothing is uploaded to any server — your photos never leave your computer.
The first time you use the tool, it will download the AI model which takes 10-30 seconds depending on your connection. After that, background removal is instant. The model stays cached in your browser, so you can even use the tool offline.
Supported Image Types
JPEG/JPG: Standard photo format. Works great for portraits and product photos. PNG: Supports transparency already, useful if you want to re-process an image or change backgrounds. WebP: Modern format with good compression. All formats are output as PNG with transparency.
Tips for Best Results
• Use photos with clear subjects (people, products, pets, objects)
• Photos with good contrast between subject and background work best
• Well-lit images with sharp focus give cleaner edges
• If edges look rough, increase Edge Smoothing to 5-7
• For product photos, use the White or Custom background option for marketplaces like Amazon/eBay
Privacy & Performance
Your images never leave your device. There are no uploads, no tracking, no server processing. The AI model runs on your hardware (GPU if available, otherwise CPU). This makes it completely private and free to use with no limits. Processing speed depends on your device: modern laptops with GPUs process images in 1-2 seconds, older devices may take 5-10 seconds.
